Women's Scottish Open returns after 11-year wait
The Women's Scottish Open will return next September over the Carrick at Loch Lomond after an 11-year absence from the schedule, thanks to financial support from EventScotland and De Vere Cameron House, owners of the most expensive new golf course yet built in Scotland. The 200,000 De Vere Ladies Scottish Open will be held at the new Carrick on Loch Lomond course, a £65-million addition to the Cameron House resort, from September 20-22 next year - one week after the Solheim Cup in Sweden. Though Scottish golf is awash with top- class men's events such as the Open Championship, held north of the border three times every five years, the Barclays Scottish Open, the Dunhill Links, the Johnnie Walker Championship and the British Seniors Open, the absence of a regular ladies professional tournament over the past five years has been a black mark against the Scottish game.
